Ossie Clark-A Dispute Over the Label

After the recent label revival of the 60′s icon Ossie Clark, the late designer’s sons are threatening a lawsuit over the use of the label’s name. Ossie Clark’s sons say they want to “reclaim their father’s name to prevent its continued and unauthorized exploitation”. They object to their father’s name being exploited and is without their consent.

Marc Worth who is behind the relaunch of the label claims that there is no legal basis for the actions from Clark’s sons.

A Vintage Hermes Stirs Rumors On The Red Carpet

At the SAG awards Angelina Jolie’s vintage Hermes dress fueled speculation amongst the press that the actress is pregnant. However many true Vintage collectors are more focused more on the dress itself.

The Hermes dress, a tie-dye brown horse print is from Juliana Cairone Rare Vintage collection. Angelina was not the first to wear a Cairone’s Rare Vintage; Debra Messing wore a Vintage Oscar de la Renta at a recent Red Carpet event.

Opened in February of 2007 Juliana Cairone’s store features vintage designs by Loris Azzaro, Chanel, Ossie Clark, Halston and Givenchy.

Cairone shops mainly in France and Italy where unique couture pieces seem an easier find. Juliana’s collection features those hard to find vintage pieces. She describes her collection as “Exclusive and glamorous pieces from the twentieth century’s most significant design houses”. However she does not limit her wares to just earlier periods. You may find designers as recently as of 2006.

No price tag on Angelina Jolie’s Hermes dress. But a rare Yves Saint Laurent gown was selling recently for $12,000 at Cairone’s shop in Manhattan.

On the Heels of Halston-Another 1960′s Fashion Label Revival

English designer Ossie Clark died bankrupt in 1996. However, with an infusion of new money Clark’s label will be revived with a fashion show in London on February 11th. Ossie was a major player in the 1960′s, designing stage costumes for Twiggy,Liza Minnelli, the Beatles, Mick Jagger, and Marianne Faithfull. British designer Avsh Alom Gur whose resume includes working at Donna Karan and Chloe, will head the Ossie Clark revival.

In 1971 Bianca Jagger’s summoned Ossie Clark to design her wedding attire to Mick Jagger. In a 1972 performance at Madison Square Garden Mick Jagger wore a blue sequined Ossie jumpsuit. Jagger in the early 70′s owned no less than ten Ossie Clark jumpsuits.

Businessman Marc Worth has funded the labels revival. Worth in 1997 founded the Worth Global Style Network.

A Vintage 1970′s Ossie Clark Maxi Dress will set you back $400 based on condition. The revival ware pricing is yet to be determined.
